Shoe Pick of the Day

I wish, I wish upon a star......oh how I would love for someone to shower me with these lovely Giuseppe Zanotti shoes!! I'd sell one of my kidneys to have them if I had three! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe they will go on sale just a little more so that I can get them. Right now, they are $979.00, so by then, they probably won't have my size. Sigh....the non-benefits of being part of the working middle class. Maybe I should go and check my lottery Quik Pick just in case.

Pause for the Cause

Today is really turning out to be not so great. My fingers are frantically typing as I enter update after update after update. Did I sign up for this? Where is this stipulated, again? Am I a 'technical writer?' Should I have re-read the fine print? How did I suddenly allow myself to morph into this downward spiral of being used and abused? Sheesh, can I get a royalty check or something? Vent of the day. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Ode to Monday Mornings

Why is it that I'm sitting here knowing that I have to be at work in 51 minutes? My feet have somehow become cemented in the carpet, and I'm just staring at this computer screen. Why, I ask myself, am I staring? My parents always taught me that staring is impolite, and I should always greet someone with a 'hello.' Well, "Hello, Dell laptop mini. How are you this morning?" I suppose once I get to work, I should greet my computer screen there as well because I'll be staring at it all day. Ok....that concludes my little ode to Monday mornings. I have a ton of work to complete at work, so I must be getting on to preparing for my day.

Public Service Announcement

I'd like to thank the coolest chic that I've ever worked with for sprinkling my blog with all of these tasty treats....Whitney, stand up and take a bow [applause].

Side note: Am I the only person in the world who could care less about the NBA Finals??? I suppose I'd be stoned to death if die hard fans read this. Oh, well....go Lakers!!!

Happy Birthday

This morning, I woke up and felt something crawling on my face. My first eerie thought was 'Oh nos, there's a spider crawling on me.' I opened one eye and then the other to much was only the string from a 'Happy Birthday' balloon! Funny thing is it's not even my birthday. Go figure....

Who Would Have Thought?

The rough foliage and crappy bushes that are in my backyard are being cleared out and are nearly gone, so I decided to take a stroll out there and see the progress. I've been living in my house now for about 2 1/2 years and have never even bothered to explore the backyard because of one or all of the following:

1. I'm not an outdoorsy person.
2. It's either too hot or too cold to explore.
3. I have giant, mutant grasshoppers, carpenter bees, ants, rabbits, snakes, and wild kingdom back there.
4. I am pretty useless on a grill (non-Foreman's that is).
5. My imaginary in-ground pool has yet to be built.

So I'm walking through the yard swatting flies and mosquitoes and wondering how on earth can Ms. Mason bear to sit out back and what the heck is firing and popping at Mrs. Anna's house, when lo and behold, I stumble across plum trees!!! There were plums everywhere!! Big, juicy red plums!! I had no idea of the hidden treasures that were lurking!!! I picked a few and snapped some pictures because I know no one would believe me!

Now, what can I make out of plums? Probably nothing, but maybe I should charge the neighborhood kids a $1.00 to come and pick them!

Trip Down Memory Lane

Wow, I can't believe that I've actually sat at this computer for the past 3 hours watching videos on You Tube! I was supposed to be mopping my kitchen, but I just had to check my work email to make sure that I didn't leave anything that I needed. I have to scramble to get my house in order so that I can get my beauty rest. I guess the time spent was worth it because I listened to all types of music that I haven't heard in years. You forget how real music used to be compared to what we hear today. Soulja Boy?? LOL! He's a great marketing strategy, but not so much something that I'd call real music. Growing up, my parents had me listening to Al Green, Teddy P., the Isley Brothers, Otis Redding, and all of that good stuff. You'd think I was born in the 60s or 70s knowing who these people are. Maybe I should write a song! I can place that on my to do list as I'm trying to seize the day and break the mold of the ordinary. Being ordinary is comforting, yet boring, so I'm choosing spontaneity.

Carnival Time!

My daughter turned 2 on June 4, and we celebrated with a carnival-themed birthday party. We had a blast and did not want the party to end, but all good things must come to an end. I want to thank all of the parents who brought their children out for our fun day (and night)!! I decided to post a few of the pictures.....

The children had fun on the bouncy castle provided by It's Your Occasion. Fun, fun, fun!! Even after the rain hit, they would not get out of there, so I may think about investing in one since it'd be well worth it!

I never quite figured out how to work the popcorn machine, so luckily I had some good friends there who were able to keep it poppin.' It was the best popcorn I've ever had (honestly)!!

Popcorn and cotton candy snacks!! Yummy!! There was none left once the party ended, but I did manage to sneak a bucket of cotton candy into my car!

I loved making the little popcorn cupcakes!! They were a huge hit and gone as soon as I put them out there. The children thought they were real popcorn until they bit into the marshmallows!

Sweets table!! One parent later called the party a 'crash party' because there was an abundance of candy and goodies that the children took home! The snow cone cupcakes disappeared, and the birthday girl ate nearly all of the clown cupcakes!

Just a couple of pictures of some of the fun carnival games that were played. The duck pond seemed to be the most fun for the kids. I thought it would be the Gone Fishin' game. Guess not.

Bucket toss. I swiped this idea from Bozo the Clown! I loved watching this on the his show when I was a kid.

Erin's mini cake! She ended up smearing cake all over her face and arms. You would have thought she was putting on lotion!

The cute clown pinata. Thanks to my sister for this lovely little item. It was bursting with candy and too cute! I wanted to keep it and take it back home!

Next year, I think we're going to take a break from partying and let someone else do it. Chuck E. Cheese, here we come!

Getting Things Together

I was sitting here at the computer and suddenly had the bright idea that I'd start my own blog. I blog at work, I blog on social networking sites, so why not create the perfect place to share my own personal thoughts and adventures? I must admit, having my thoughts put out there for the world to see does seem a bit outlandish, but maybe someone's interested in what I have to say...or not! I have fun days, bad days, slow days, hectic days, all types of days, so hope you enjoy!!
